Welcome to the website of chambres d'hôtes La Cerisaie!

Are you in the mood for a delicious relaxing holiday in southern France and would you like to stay in one of the five beautiful rooms of a beautiful and stately 'maison de maître' or in one of the two charming gîtes? Then you've come to the right place! In the village of Riols, located in the provincial nature park 'Haut-Languedoc', you will find our chambres d'hôtes de charme 'La Cerisaie' (or: the cherry orchard); a mansion from 1869 surrounded by a beautiful garden with plenty of flowers and plants, seating areas, deckchairs, and two hammocks. A lovely swimming pool measuring 10 x 5 meters, with surrounding hardwood chair decks, provides the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

La Cerisaie exudes the atmosphere of the past combined with modern comfort. The house is elegant, full of charm, and features authentic elements such as old wooden floors, marble fireplaces, and doors and windows with cut glass. The house has five comfortable rooms and a studio for those who prefer to have a kitchenette. In the old carriage house behind the maison, you'll find two gîtes: one for two and one for four people. All rooms and gîtes have their own bathroom, and the beds are adorned with soft and cool Egyptian percale cotton.

On the ground floor of the maison, there is a shared living room with an (exchange) library and games, a dining room (with a large oval table) for inclement weather, seating up to twelve people, and the breakfast room, where we can also accommodate larger groups. This breakfast room also houses a piano that guests are welcome to play.

Generally, we cook a three-course menu on Saturday, Monday, and Thursday evenings (changing to Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings from mid-June) served at long tables outside on the terrace or indoors if the weather is poor. On other days (except Tuesday), you can order a cheese and/or charcuterie board or a pizza.

The surrounding area offers plenty of activities: hiking, cycling, swimming in lakes or the Jaur river, visiting wineries, exploring charming villages like Olargues, Minerve, or Roquebrun, and enjoying their weekly markets.

La Cerisaie welcomes guests aged sixteen and over during the shoulder seasons. In July and August, families with children aged twelve and above are welcome in the gîtes. Dogs are allowed (after consultation) in the gîtes for a fee of €5.00 per day. Our two cats, Teun and Flip, also live at La Cerisaie. Teun and Flip have been taking French lessons to make friends with the neighbor's cats :).

On Tuesdays, we are closed; generally, you cannot check in on this day. If you would still like to do so, please give us a call or send an email to see if there is an exception possible. La Cerisaie is open in 2026 from April 24th to October 1st.

- A wine week (August 29th - September 5th)
- A painting and sculpting workshop (September 15th-18th) led by Lisette Meijrink and Katrin Kleinau.
Additionally, our guests can participate in a two-day workshop on 'portrait' or 'landscape painting' led by Els Knockaert. There is also a cycling, hiking, or motor arrangement from La Cerisaie for guests who wish to thoroughly explore the area.
