Welcome to the website of chambres d'hôtes La Cerisaie! Are you in the mood for a delightful, relaxing holiday in southern France, and would you like to stay in one of the five beautiful rooms of a lovely and stately 'maison de maître' or in one of the two charming gîtes? Then you've come to the right place! In the village of Riols, located in the provincial nature park 'Haut-Languedoc', you'll find our chambres d'hôtes de charme 'La Cerisaie' (or: the cherry orchard); a mansion from 1869 surrounded by a beautiful garden with plenty of flowers and plants, seating areas, deck chairs, and two hammocks. A lovely swimming pool of 10 x 5 meters, with surrounding hardwood chair decks, provides the perfect spot to relax, making it a delightful place to stay. La Cerisaie exudes the atmosphere of the past, combined with modern comfort. The house is elegant, full of charm, and filled with authentic elements such as old wooden floors, marble fireplaces, and doors and windows with cut glass. The house has five comfortable rooms and a studio for those who prefer to have a kitchenette. In the old carriage house at the back of the maison, you'll find two gîtes: one for two and one for four people. All rooms and gîtes have their own bathroom, and the beds are adorned with deliciously soft and cool Egyptian percale cotton.

On the ground floor of the main house, we have a shared living room with (exchange) library and games, a dining room (with a large oval table) for when the weather is bad, where up to twelve people can eat, and the breakfast room, where we can also eat with more guests. In this breakfast room there is also a piano, on which you can play to your heart's content. Generally, we cook a three-course menu on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, which we serve at long tables outside on the terrace, or inside in bad weather. On other days (except Tuesday), you can order a cheese and/or charcuterie board or a (ready-made) pizza or lasagne with a salad. There is plenty to do in the area: you can walk, cycle, swim in the lakes or the river Jaur, visit wine domains or go to charming villages such as Olargues, Minerve or Roquebrun and, for example, visit the weekly market there. La Cerisaie welcomes guests aged sixteen and over in the pre- and post-season. In July & August, families with children from twelve years old are welcome in the gîtes. Dogs are welcome (after consultation) in the gîtes, at a price of €5.00 per day. Because our two cats Teun and Flip also live at La Cerisaie. Teun and Flip have been taking French lessons for a while to become friends with the neighbour's cats :).

On Tuesdays we are free (after breakfast); in general, you cannot check in then. If you still want to, please call or email us to see if there is a possibility. La Cerisaie is open in 2026 from April 24 to September 27.

La Cerisaie is a wonderful place to celebrate a carefree holiday and to discover the beautiful surroundings of Haut-Languedoc. Still doubting? Sometimes images say more than words. In addition, our guests can participate in a two-day portrait or landscape painting workshop, taught by Els Knockaert. There is also a cycling, hiking or motorcycle arrangement from La Cerisaie, for guests who want to explore the area well.
