Welcome to the website of chambres d'hôtes La Cerisaie!

At present, we are closed. In 2027, we will be open from Saturday 1 May until Sunday 26 September. Are you looking forward to a delightful, relaxing holiday in Southern France and would you like to stay in one of the five beautiful rooms of our lovely and characteristic 'maison de maître' or in one of the two charming and cosy gîtes? Then you've come to the right place!

In the village of Riols, located in the provincial nature park 'Haut-Languedoc', you'll find our chambres d'hôtes de charme 'La Cerisaie' (or: the cherry orchard); a stately mansion from 1869 surrounded by a beautiful garden with plenty of flowers and plants, seating areas, sun loungers and two hammocks. A lovely swimming pool of 10 by 5 metres, with surrounding hardwood chair decks, makes it a wonderful place to relax.

La Cerisaie exudes the atmosphere of the past, combined with modern comfort. The house is elegant, full of charm and packed with authentic elements such as old wooden floors, marble fireplaces and doors and windows with stained glass. The house has five comfortable rooms, of which four now have a new, modern bathroom with a walk-in shower. For those who would also like to have a small kitchen, there is the 'studio' on the second floor. In the old coach house, located behind the maison, you'll find two gîte apartments: one for two and one for four people. All rooms and gîtes have their own bathroom and the beds are fitted with deliciously soft and cool Egyptian percale cotton.

On the ground floor of the maisonette, we have a shared living room with (exchange) library and games, a dining room (with a large oval table) for bad weather, where up to twelve people can eat, and the breakfast room, where we can also eat with more guests. In this breakfast room there is also a piano, on which you can play to your heart's content.

Generally, we cook a three-course menu on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, which we serve at long tables outside on the terrace, or inside in bad weather. On other days (except Tuesday), you can order a cheese and/or charcuterie board or a (ready-made) pizza or lasagne with a salad. 

There is plenty to do in the area: you can walk, cycle, mountain bike, swim in the lakes in the mountains, or in the river Jaur, kayak on the Orb, visit wine domains or go to nice villages like Olargues, Minerve or Roquebrun and, for example, visit the weekly market there. A day trip to the Mediterranean Sea is also easily possible; it's an hour's drive. Riols has had 2 charging stations in the village since 2026, a 5-minute walk away. Saint Pons-de-Thomieres also has two charging stations to charge the battery of your car.

La Cerisaie welcomes guests aged sixteen and over in the pre- and off-season. In July & August, families with children from twelve years old are welcome. Dogs are welcome (after consultation) in the gîtes, at a price of €5.00 per day. Because our two cats Teun and Flip also live on La Cerisaie. Teun and Flip have been taking French lessons for a while to become friends with the neighbour's cats :).

On Tuesdays we are free (after breakfast); in general, you cannot check in then. If you still want to, please call or email us to see if there is a possibility. La Cerisaie is open in 2026 from April 24th to September 27th. 

La Cerisaie is a delightful place to celebrate a carefree holiday and to discover the beautiful surroundings of the Haut-Languedoc. Still doubting? Sometimes images say more than words. Take a look at this short video  of La Cerisaie.

PS 1: In 2026 we will have a number of workshops: a) painting, b) sculpting or c) yoga. You can simply register for these workshops. There are also arrangements. We also offer the possibility to attend a theme week 'wine' with us, together with a group of friends or acquaintances. For this theme week, a group of 8-12 people is needed to proceed. Early 2026 we will probably provide more information about the workshops. If you are interested in a wine week, please contact us.
