Do you feel like a wonderful relaxed vacation in South France, and want to sleep in one of the five beautiful rooms of a lovely and stately 'maison de maître' or in one of the two nice gîtes? Then you are at the right place with us! In the village of Riols, located in the provincial nature park 'Haut-Languedoc', our charming chambres d'hôtes 'La Cerisaie' (or: the cherry orchard) is situated; a townhouse from 1869 surrounded by a beautiful garden with many flowers and plants, benches, lounge chairs and two hammocks. A nice pool of 10 x 5 meters, surrounded by wooden chair decks, for relaxing, makes the whole a wonderful place.

La Cerisaie breathes the atmosphere of the past, combined with modern comfort. The house is elegant, full of charm and full of authentic elements such as old wooden floors, marble staircases and doors and windows with cut glass. The house has five comfortable rooms, and a studio, for those who also like to have a kitchen / kitchenette. In the old coach house behind the maison there are two gîtes: one for two and one for four people. All rooms and gîtes have their own bathroom and the beds are wonderfully soft and cooling Egyptian percale cotton.

On the ground floor of the maison we have a common living room with a (swap) library and games, a dining room (with a large oval table) for bad weather and where up to twelve people can dine and the breakfast hall, where we can also eat with more guests. In this breakfast hall there is also a piano, which you can play heartily.

Generally we cook a three-course menu on Saturday, Monday and Thursday evenings, which we serve at long tables outside on the terrace, or indoors in bad weather. On other days (except Tuesday) you can order a cheese and/or charcuterie board.  

In the area there is everything to experience: you can walk, cycle, swim in the lakes or the little river Jaur, visit vineyards or go to nice villages such as Olargues, Minerve or Roquebrun and for example visit the weekly market there.

La Cerisaie welcomes guests aged sixteen and older in the off-peak and peak season. In July & August families with children from twelve years old are welcome in the gîtes. Dogs are (after consultation) welcome in the gîtes, for a price of €5.00 per day. Because also Teun, our cat lives at La Cerisaie. Teun has been taking French lessons for a while to make friends with the neighbour cats :).

 

On Tuesday we are closed; generally you cannot check in then. If you still want to, call / email us to see if there is a possibility. La Cerisaie is open in 2025 from 19 April to 29 September.

PS 1: For creatives we offer on 17, 18 & 19 September a painting and sculpting workshop led by Lisette Meijrink and Katrin Kleinau. Additionally, our guests can join a two-day workshop 'portrait' or 'landscape painting', given by Els Knockaert. There is also a bike, walking or motorbike arrangement from La Cerisaie, for guests who want to explore the area well.
