You fancy a wonderful relaxing holiday in South France and would like to sleep in one of the five beautiful rooms of a lovely and stately 'maison de maître' or in one of the two nice gîtes? Then you've come to the right address! In the village of Riols, located in the provincial nature park 'Haut-Languedoc', lies our charming B&B 'La Cerisaie' (or: the cherry orchard); a mansion from 1869 surrounded by a beautiful garden with many flowers and plants, benches, deck chairs and two hammocks. A nice pool of 10 x 5 meters, with hardwood decks around it, to relax wonderfully, makes the whole thing a lovely place.

La Cerisaie breathes the atmosphere of the past combined with modern comfort. The house is elegant, has a lot of charm and is full of authentic elements such as old wooden floors, marble fireplaces and doors and windows with cut glass. The house has five comfortable rooms, and a studio for those who also want to have a kitchen / kitchenette available. In the old coach house behind the mansion are two gîtes: one for two and one for four people. All rooms and gîtes have their own bathroom and on the beds lies lovely soft and cooling Egyptian cotton linen.

On the ground floor of the mansion we have a common living room with (exchange) library and games, a dining room (with a large oval table) for when it's bad weather and where you can eat with a maximum of twelve people and the breakfast room, where we also eat with more guests. In this breakfast room there is also a piano, where you can play to your heart's content.

Generally, we cook on Saturday-, Monday- and Thursday evening a three-course menu that we serve at long tables outside on the terrace or inside when it's bad weather. On other days (except Tuesday) you can order a cheese and/or charcuterie platter. 

In the area there is everything to experience: you can walk, cycle, swim in the lakes or the river Jaur, visit wine domains or go to nice villages like Olargues, Minerve or Roquebrun and there for example visit the weekly market.

La Cerisaie welcomes guests from sixteen years old and older in the off-season. In July & August families with children from twelve years old are also welcome in the gîtes. Dogs are (after consultation) welcome in the gîtes, at a price of €5.00 per day. Because Teun, our cat, also lives on La Cerisaie. Teun has been taking French lessons for a while to become friends with the neighborhood cats :).

 

We are free on Tuesday; generally you can't check in then. If you would like to do so, please call / email us to see if there is a possibility for that.  La Cerisaie is open from April 19 to September 29, 2025.

PS 1:  In 2026 we will also have again
- wine week (August 29 - September 5)
- workshop painting and modeling (September 15-18) given by Lisette Meijrink and Katrin Kleinau. 
Furthermore, our guests can participate in a two-day workshop 'portrait-' or 'landscape painting', given by Els Knockaert.  Also there is a bike-, hike- or motor arrangement from La Cerisaie for guests who want to explore the area well.
