Welcome to the website of chambres d'hôtes La Cerisaie! Are you in the mood for a delightful, relaxing holiday in southern France, and would you like to stay in one of the five beautiful rooms of a lovely and characteristic 'maison de maître' or in one of the two charming and cozy gîtes? Then you've come to the right place! In the village of Riols, located in the provincial nature park 'Haut-Languedoc', you'll find our chambres d'hôtes de charme 'La Cerisaie' (or: the cherry orchard); a stately mansion from 1869 surrounded by a beautiful garden with plenty of flowers and plants, seating areas, deck chairs, and two hammocks. A lovely swimming pool measuring 10 by 5 meters, with hardwood chair decks surrounding it, makes this an ideal place to relax. La Cerisaie exudes the atmosphere of the past, combined with modern comfort. The house is elegant, full of charm, and packed with authentic elements such as old wooden floors, marble fireplaces, and doors and windows with cut glass. The house has five comfortable rooms, four of which now have a new, modern bathroom with a rain shower. For those who would also like to have a small kitchen, there is the 'studio' on the second floor. In the old coach house, located behind the main house, you'll find two gîte apartments: one for two and one for four people. All rooms and gîtes have their own bathroom, and the beds are adorned with deliciously soft and cool Egyptian percale cotton.

On the ground floor of the main house, we have a shared living room with (exchange) library and games, a dining room (with a large oval table) for when the weather is bad, where up to twelve people can eat, and the breakfast room, where we can also accommodate more guests. This breakfast room also has a piano, which you can play to your heart's content. In general, we cook a three-course menu on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday evenings, which we serve at long tables outside on the terrace, or inside in case of bad weather. On other days (except Tuesday), you can order a cheese and/or charcuterie board or a (ready-made) pizza or lasagne with a salad. The surrounding area offers a variety of activities: you can hike, cycle, mountain bike, swim in the mountain lakes or the Jaur river, kayak on the Orb, visit wine domains, or explore charming villages like Olargues, Minerve or Roquebrun, where you can, for example, visit the weekly market. A day trip to the Mediterranean Sea is also easily doable; it's about an hour's drive. Riols has had 2 charging stations in the village since 2026, just a 5-minute walk away. Saint Pons-de-Thomieres also has two charging stations to recharge your car's battery. La Cerisaie welcomes guests aged sixteen and over in the shoulder seasons. In July & August, families with children aged twelve and over are welcome. Dogs are welcome in the gîtes (after consultation) at a rate of €5.00 per day. This is because our two cats, Teun and Flip, also live at La Cerisaie. Teun and Flip have been taking French lessons for a while to become friends with the neighbor's cats :).

On Tuesdays we are free (after breakfast); in general, you cannot check in then. If you still would like to, please call or email us to see if there is a possibility. La Cerisaie is open in 2026 from April 24th to September 27th.

La Cerisaie is a delightful place to celebrate a carefree holiday and to discover the beautiful surroundings of Haut-Languedoc. Still doubting? Sometimes images say more than words. Language: Dutch, French, or English. - In addition, our guests can participate in a two-day workshop on 'portrait' or 'landscape painting', taught by Els Knockaert. - There is also a cycling or hiking arrangement from La Cerisaie, for guests who want to explore the area well.
