Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
What time can we check in or out?
Check-in is possible between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM; check-out is between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Of course, we try to be flexible with these times. It is, however, appreciated if you discuss this with us in advance. This also applies to check-in.
Duesday is our day off. Check-in is usually not possible then. But sometimes we can make arrangements; feel free to discuss with us to explore the possibilities.
Is breakfast included and at what times?
If you stay in one of the five rooms of the maison de maître, breakfast is included in the price. If you stay in the studio or in the gîtes, you can make use of our breakfast service (€13.00 pp). In principle, breakfast is served between 8.00 and 10.00 am, but if you need to leave early, we can take that into account.
How do we reach La Cerisaie?
AUTO
Our bed and breakfast is easily accessible by car. See also the tile 'Contact & Accessibility'. Our site has ample parking. For guests staying in the gîtes, there are a number of parking spaces behind (not on) the site.
FLYING
From Amsterdam, KLM flies daily to Montpellier and Toulouse. At the airport, you can rent a car (two hours' drive). Ryanair flies every Thursday and Sunday during the summer months from Weeze/Düsseldorf to Béziers. It's about an hour's drive from Béziers airport to Riols.
TRAIN
With the train you can also: there are several trains to Béziers (bookable via the website of NS International or the French variant: SNCF) . From Amsterdam there is a train that takes just under 9 hours to Béziers, for just over €100. Book three months in advance (and free to cancel); you can also set up an alert so that you can buy a cheap ticket in time. You can rent a car near Béziers station. From Béziers station it is still about three-quarters of an hour to Riols (by car) or an hour by bus (see below). From Montpellier the journey takes just under two hours.
BUS
From both Béziers and Montpellier there are a few buses a day to Saint-Pons. The bus from/to Montpellier stops in Riols, the bus from/to Béziers stops near Saint-Pons, where we can pick you up or take you there.
Where can we sit outside?
Our property is 3,500 m2; there are various seating areas in the garden where you can relax. Around the pool are sun loungers, and there are two hammocks hanging between the cherry trees. Both gîtes also have private balconies. At the back of the maison, we have a small seating area that we would like to keep for ourselves to take a breather now and then.
Is the pool heated?
No, it is an unheated pool. In April, May and at the end of September the water can be a bit fresh. But in summer the pool offers a wonderful cooling down! The pool is separate from the house with sun loungers all around, where you can enjoy sunbathing.
Are children welcome?
From April to June (excluding the May holidays) and in September, guests aged 16 and over are welcome at La Cerisaie. Not because we don't like children, but because we want to offer other guests a peaceful stay. In July and August, families with children aged 12 and over who can swim are more than welcome in the two gîtes. If you book the entire house, children are more than welcome. We assume that you will keep an eye on them yourself, especially due to the swimming pool.
Are pets welcome?
Pets are welcome in the two gîtes, but only after consultation; it depends a bit on the dog. We appreciate it if dogs are kept on a leash outside on the grounds. There is a surcharge of €7.50 per dog per day.
Can we rent the entire La Cerisaie?
Yes, the entire complex can be rented (for a minimum of one week), provided that no other guests have booked it. Parties, events, or weddings are also possible. Please note that we also live in the bed and breakfast. In total (with a few extra fold-out beds), up to twenty people can stay here.
Do you also provide meals?
We serve a substantial breakfast daily: coffee/tea with fresh croissants and delicious baguettes from the local baker, an egg, various toppings, yoghurt, muesli, orange juice and fruit salad. We make the jam ourselves from our own cherries or other fruit. Generally, we cook three times a week (Sunday, Wednesday and Friday) a delicious three-course menu using as many local products as possible, and (often) with vegetables as the main focus. With a table d'hôte, the principle is 'eat what's on offer'. We try to take account of wishes and/or allergies, but that doesn't always work/is not always possible. On the evenings we don't cook, we can (except on Tuesday) provide a cheese and/or charcuterie board, or put a pizza or lasagne in the oven. That can also be a lunch option of course.
Can we use our own food and drinks?
Of course, you can always do this in your own room or in the gîtes (with a private kitchen and fridge, seating area and balcony). We offer a variety of drinks and snacks at reasonable prices. But if you've bought a special bottle of wine or if you enjoy drinking whisky (we don't sell hard liquor), it's perfectly fine to indulge in them. However, it's not intended to bring your own bottle of wine to the table d'hôtes, for example.
All rooms are equipped with a kettle to make your own coffee and tea. If you'd like an espresso, coffee, or cappuccino from our espresso machine, you can order it from us. In the gîtes, you can do whatever you feel like.
Do you also have a charging station?
La Cerisaie does not have a charging station itself. But since 2026, Riols has had two charging stations on the Place du Foirail. You can also charge your car electrically in Saint-Pons.
Are there also restaurants and shops in the village?
In Riols there is a (good) bakery, a butcher, a florist and a do-it-yourself store (Brico). There is also a restaurant with a terrace in the butcher's building. In Saint-Pons (4 km away) you can find two supermarkets and other shops. There are also a few restaurants, gas stations, and an ATM. You can go to the bakery here on Tuesdays if our baker in Riols has a day off. There is also a bike rental company in Saint-Pons.
What facilities are there if we come by bike?
Cyclists are very welcome. There's nothing better than relaxing on a bed by the pool after a bike ride. Bikes can be stored behind the house (out of sight) or in the garage. Those with electric bikes can charge their batteries. We are affiliated with Accueil Vélo.
