Questions and answers
What time can we check in or out?
Check-in is between 15:00 and 20:00 and check-out is between 08:00 and 11:00. Of course, we try to be flexible with these times. It would be nice if you would discuss this with us in advance. But it also applies to the other guests: it would be nice if you would let us know the time of check-in in advance.
Tuesday is our day off. Check-out is possible until 11:00. Check-in is usually not possible then. But even then, we can sometimes work something out; just consult with us to discuss whether it might be possible after all.
Is breakfast included and at what times?
If you stay in one of the five rooms of the maison de maître, breakfast is included in the price. If you stay in the studio or in the gîtes, you can use our breakfast service (€13.00 pp). In principle, breakfast is between 8:00 and 10:00, but if you want to leave early, we can take that into account.
How do we get to La Cerisaie?
AUTO
Our chambre d'hôtes is easily accessible by car. See also the tile ' Contact & Accessibility '. Our terrain has sufficient parking spaces. For guests staying in the gîtes, there are a number of parking spaces behind (not on) the terrain.
TO FLY
From Amsterdam, KLM flies daily to Montpellier and Toulouse. At the airport you can rent a car (two hours drive). Ryanair flies every Wednesday and Sunday from Weeze / Düsseldorf to Béziers in the summer months. From Béziers airport it is another hour's drive to Riols.
TRAIN
You can also take the train: there are several trains to Béziers (bookable via the NS International website or the French version: SNCF ). From Amsterdam there is a train that takes just under 9 hours to Béziers, for just over €100. Book three months in advance (free cancellation); you can also set an alert so that you can buy a cheap ticket in time. You can rent a car near Béziers station . From Béziers station it is another three quarters of an hour to Riols (by car) or an hour by bus (see below). From Montpellier the journey takes about 1.45 hours.
BUS
From both Béziers and Montpellier there is a bus to Saint-Pons several times a day. The bus from/to Montpellier stops in Riols, the bus from/to Béziers stops at the 'Martinet' stop, at the exit to Riols (2 km) and where we can pick you up or take you to.
Where can we sit outside?
Our property is 3,500 m2; there are several seating areas in the garden where you can relax. There are sunbeds around the pool, and two hammocks hang between the cherry trees. Both gîtes also have private balconies. At the back of the maison we have a small seating area and we would like to keep it for ourselves so that we can relax every now and then.
Is the pool heated?
No, it is an unheated pool. In April, May and at the end of September the water can be a bit chilly. But in the summer the pool offers a wonderful cooling! The pool is separate from the house with sun loungers around it, where you can sunbathe.
Are children welcome?
From April to June (with the exception of the May holiday) and in September, La Cerisaie welcomes guests aged 16 and over. Not because we don't like children, but because we want to offer other guests a quiet place. In July and August, families with children aged 12 and over who can swim are very welcome in the two gîtes. If you rent the entire house, children are more than welcome. We assume that you will keep an eye on them yourself, partly because of the swimming pool.
Are pets allowed?
Pets are welcome in the two gîtes, but only after consultation; it depends a bit on the dog. We appreciate it if dogs are kept on a leash outside on the property. For dogs there is a surcharge of €7.50 per dog per day.
Can we rent the whole of La Cerisaie?
Yes, the entire complex can be rented (for a minimum of one week), provided that no other guests have booked yet. Parties, celebrations or weddings are also possible. In consultation, we can arrange everything. Please note that we also live in the chambre d'hôtes ourselves. In total (with an extra folding bed here and there), a maximum of twenty people can stay.
Do you also provide meals?
We provide an extensive breakfast every day: coffee/tea with fresh croissants and baguettes from the local baker, an egg, various sandwich toppings, yoghurt, muesli, orange juice and fruit salad. In general, we cook a delicious three-course meal three times a week (Saturday, Monday and Thursday) with as many local products as possible, and (often) with vegetables in the leading role. With a table d'hôtes the starting point is 'eat what the pot provides'. We try to take wishes and/or allergies into account, but that is not always possible. On the evenings that we do not cook, we can provide a cheese and/or charcuterie board (except on Tuesday). That can also be a lunch option of course.
Can we use our own food and drinks?
In your own room or in the gîtes (with own kitchen and fridge, sitting area and balcony) that is of course always possible. With us it is possible to get all kinds of drinks and snacks, at reasonable prices. But if you have bought a special bottle of wine yourself, or you like to drink whisky for example (we do not sell spirits), then it is fine to enjoy it. But it is not the intention, for example, to bring your own bottle of wine to the table d'hôtes.
All rooms have a kettle to make your own coffee and tea. If you want an espresso, coffee or cappuccino from our espresso machine, you can order it from us. In the gîtes you can do whatever you want.
Are there also restaurants and shops in the village?
In Riols there is a (good) bakery and a DIY store (Brico). Since the end of 2023, a florist and butcher's shop have been added. In the building of the butcher there is also a small brewery with a terrace. In Saint-Pons (4 km further) there are two supermarkets and other shops. There are also a number of restaurants, a petrol station and an ATM. You can go to the bakery here on Tuesdays, when our baker in Riols has a day off.
What facilities are available if we come by bike?
Cyclists are very welcome. There is nothing better than relaxing on a sunbed by the pool after a bike ride. The bikes can be parked behind the house (out of sight) or in the garage. Those who have an electric bike can charge the battery. We are affiliated with Accueil Vélo.
