Questions and answers
What time can we check in or out?
Check-in is between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM and check-out is between 8:00 AM and 11:00 AM. Naturally, we try to be flexible with these times. It would be nice if you discussed this with us in advance. But it also applies to other guests: it would be nice if you let us know the time of check-in in advance.
Tuesday is our day off. You can then check out until 11:00 am. Checking in is usually not possible. But sometimes something can be done about that; please contact us to discuss whether it might be possible.
Is breakfast included and at what times?
If you stay in one of the five rooms of the maison de maître, breakfast is included in the price. If you stay in the studio or in the gites, you can use our breakfast service (€12.50 pp). In principle, breakfast is between 8:00 and 10:00, but if you want to leave early, we can take that into account.
How do we get to La Cerisaie?
CAR
Our chambre d'hôtes is easy to reach by car. See also the tile ' Contact & Accessibility '. Our site has sufficient parking spaces. For guests staying in the gites, there are a number of parking spaces behind (not on) the site.
TO FLY
KLM flies daily from Amsterdam to Montpellier and Toulouse. You can rent a car at the airport (two hours' drive). Ryanair flies from Weeze / Düsseldorf to Béziers every Wednesday and Sunday during the summer months. From Béziers airport it is another hour's drive to Riols.
TRAIN
You can also go by train: various trains go to Béziers (can be booked via the NS International website or the French version: SNCF ). From Amsterdam there is a train that takes just under 9 hours to Béziers, for just over €100. Book three months in advance (and cancel free of charge); You can also set an alert, so that you can buy a cheap ticket in time. You can rent a car near Béziers station. From Béziers station it is another 45 minutes to Riols (by car) or an hour by bus (see below). From Montpellier the drive takes about 1.45 hours.
BUS
There is a bus to Saint-Pons several times a day from both Béziers and Montpellier. The bus from/to Montpellier stops in Riols, the bus from/to Béziers stops at the 'Martinet' stop, at the exit to Riols (2 km) and where we can pick you up or take you to.
Where can we sit outside?
Our site is 3,500 m2; There are several seating areas in the garden where you can relax. There are sunbeds around the pool, and two hammocks hang between the cherry trees. Both gites also have private balconies. We have a small sitting area at the back of the maison and we would like to keep it for ourselves to take a break every now and then.
Is the pool heated?
No, it is an unheated pool. In April, May and at the end of September the water can be a bit chilly. But in the summer the swimming pool offers wonderful cooling! The swimming pool is located separately from the house with sun loungers all around, where you can sunbathe.
Are children welcome?
From April to June (with the exception of the May holidays) and in September, guests aged 16 and over are welcome at La Cerisaie. Not because we don't like children, but because we want to offer other guests a quiet place. In July and August, families with children aged 12 and over who can swim are very welcome in the two gites. If you rent the entire house, children are more than welcome. We then assume that you will keep an eye on them yourself, partly because of the swimming pool.
Are pets welcome?
Pets are welcome in the two gites, but only after consultation; it kind of depends on the dog. We appreciate it if dogs are kept on a leash outside on the property. For dogs there is a surcharge of €7.50 per dog per day.
Can we rent the whole of La Cerisaie?
Yes, the entire complex can be rented (for at least one week), provided no other guests have booked yet. Parties, celebrations or weddings are also possible. We can take care of everything in consultation. Please keep in mind that we also live in the chambre d'hôtes. In total (with an extra folding bed here and there) a maximum of twenty people can stay.
Do you also provide meals?
We provide an extensive breakfast every day: coffee/tea with fresh croissants and baguette from the local bakery, an egg, various spreads, yoghurt, cruesli, orange juice and fruit salad. In general, we cook a delicious three-course menu three times a week (Saturday, Monday and Thursday) with as many local products as possible, and (often) with vegetables in the leading role. With a table d'hôtes the starting point is 'eat what you can get'. We try to take wishes and/or allergies into account, but this is not always possible. On the evenings when we are not cooking, we can provide a cheese and/or charcuterie board (except on Tuesdays). That can also be a lunch option of course.
Can we use our own food and drinks?
This is of course always possible in your own room or in the gîtes (with their own kitchen and refrigerator, seating area and balcony). With us it is possible to obtain all kinds of drinks and snacks at reasonable prices. But if you have bought a special bottle of wine yourself, or you like to drink whiskey, for example (we do not sell spirits), then it is fine to enjoy it. But for example, it is not the intention to bring your own bottle of wine to the table d'hôtes.
All rooms have a kettle to make your own coffee and tea. If you want an espresso, coffee or cappuccino from our espresso machine, you can order it from us. In the gîtes you can do whatever you like.
Are there restaurants and shops in the village?
In Riols there is a (good) bakery and a do-it-yourself shop (Brico). A florist and butcher shop have been added since the end of 2023. The butcher's building also has a small beer brewery with a terrace. In Saint-Pons (4 km away) there are two supermarkets and other shops. There are also a number of restaurants, a petrol station and an ATM. You can go to the bakery here on Tuesdays, when our baker in Riols has a day off.
What are the facilities if we come by bike?
Cyclists are very welcome. There's nothing better than relaxing on a bed by the pool after a bike ride. The bicycles can be stored behind the house (out of sight) or in the garage. Anyone who has an electric bicycle can charge the battery. We are affiliated with Accueil Vélo.
